Sugar, Sugar

So lots of stuff going on in the Professor household these days! First, we do indeed have snow. The first snow didn't arrive until the end of Jan/beginning of Feb, but it brought frigid temps (highs of 0 - 10 max, and unspeakable lows and wind chills), and plenty of the white stuff. Which means that even though we're in the 40's today (yippee!) we're in no danger of too much melting.

In other news our cat Nickey has been diagnosed with diabetes. We'd noticed that she'd lost a lot of weight, but she was always overweight before, so initially we were pleased. But then she started losing lots of fur and became really skinny - though it's hard to tell because of all of her long hair. When we finally got her to the vet last week she only weighed 10 lb - down from 17 at her last checkup in the summer. So it's twice daily insulin shots and regular blood glucose checks at the vet for awhile. We're hoping that we'll eventually be able to control it with diet only, but we'll just have to see.

And of course, the sweetest thing of all is our now 5 month old baby girl. She's growing like crazy, and still sleeping on her own terms. We're working on it though. She slept in her crib for half an hour this morning, which believe me is a step in the right direction! She can roll over well, and holds her head up well in all directions and positions. She's currently working on the whole sitting up unsupported thing, but I think it will be a couple of weeks yet.

She's currently crying so I'll cut this short, but I thought any update was a good update yes? Next time I'll talk about how if you're really interested in politics you should absolutely live in Iowa.
